Have you ever wondered what socialism actually means? What about "dialectical materialism" or "proletariat"? Did you know Marxism is also known as "Scientific Socialism"? Even if you've read the Communist Manifesto and other texts, its likely that these terms and many other concepts remain unclear. Nobody understands this stuff just by reading a book, just like you can't understand physics by skimming through a textbook. The goal of this group is to provide a safe, judgement free space to struggle with these sometimes confusing concepts. This reading group will read foundational texts about Marxism from primary authors such as Karl Marx, Frederick Engels, Vladimir Lenin, and more. We'll read through paragraph by paragraph, with slightly more knowledgeable Marxists in the room to answer any questions and provide context if needed.
