About
Your Voice. Their Vote. Show Up. The Georgia General Assembly has called a Special Session on June 17 to redraw voting district maps across the state. It's time to remind the legislature that our eyes will witness any attempt at racist gerrymandering, and we will remember in November. Our students' communities and families deserve better than to be silenced by the few. Meet at the upper entrance of the Sloppy Floyd Building at 12:00 PM to walk together in to the Georgia Capitol, arriving latest by 12:30 PM. Gallery seating is first come, first served, so don't be late! We must fill as many seats as possible. Legislators need to feel the weight of our presence. This is about more than maps. Gerrymandering silences voters, weakens communities, and diminishes the power of the people our students will grow up to become. When educators pack those Galleries, we send a clear message: all eyes are on Georgia. Before or after the session, take the opportunity to locate your representative and request a few minutes of their time. Come prepared to share your concerns about fair district boundaries and what transparent, accountable representation means for Gwinnett County families and schools. GCAE shows up for Georgia students — inside the classroom and inside the Capitol. Meet at Sloppy Floyd Building (upper entrance) 12:00 PM Walk to Capitol at 12:30 PM June 17
