Provide critical support to local pollinators by helping us maintain our pollinator pocket garden. This small but mighty garden provides everything pollinators need to thrive -- food, water, shelter, and breeding grounds. Your role: This weekly, independent volunteer shift requires primarily watering & weeding and is appropriate for experienced, adult (18+) gardeners who can work without supervision and have experience at this garden. NOT eligible for court-ordered hours. Tend the pollinator garden at the Smyrna Recycling Center! Must be 18+ with ability to work solo & have previous experience at this garden. Gardening pros only!. Organized by Keep Smyrna Beautiful. Tips: Thank you for volunteering to help maintain the pollinator pocket garden at the Smyrna Recycling Center (3475 Lake Dr.). As a reminder, this activity is not eligible for court-ordered hours. While the sign-up is for a specific time on Saturday, you may come any time during open hours (8am to 4pm) on the Saturday you signed up for. This is an independent activity meant for experienced gardeners, so there will be no staff on site. If you have not yet visited the garden, email Eloise at eholland@smyrnaga.gov to arrange a time to tour the garden before your volunteer date. If you have not visited the garden previously and you do not arrange a visit beforehand, we will cancel your registration If you are unable to fill this shift, please let us know as soon as possible. WEEKLY TASKS: • Weed in beds and on path leading and through garden. Use yard waste bags for weeds. • Clean pollinator watering stations and bird bath with vinegar, rinse thoroughly, and refill. • Water as needed. • Deadhead for rebloom: Remove spent flowers including coneflowers, asters, yarrow, milkweed, and phlox. • Monitor for signs
