About
Step back in time and explore the very roots of our local heritage with our ongoing weekly Fort Tours, held every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, rain or shine. This program offers a rare opportunity to step inside the interior of our late 18th-century blockhouse, one of the oldest historic structures in the region. You will discover the gripping history of early settlement in the frontier territory that eventually became Barrow County, and learn how the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) taking possession of the building in 1927 ultimately planted the seeds for the creation of Fort Yargo State Park decades later. Whether you are a dedicated history buff or just curious about the past, stop by this weekend to walk the same floorboards as Georgia's early settlers! FREE!
