About Chef Ali Mesghali A native of Iran, Ali Mesghali moved to Los Angeles, CA, when he was 11 years old and spent the majority of his early years working in Persian restaurants. As a young cook working in Los Angeles, Ali dreamed of what would one day become Rumi’s Kitchen. In 2007, that dream became a reality after Ali moved to Atlanta, Georgia. That location would grow to become an institution in Atlanta, and Ali a beloved chef in the city. Chef Ali has been invited to cook at the James Beard House in New York, and his restaurant in Washington D.C. has been listed in the Michelin guide two years in a row.
