About Chef Woody Back Chef Woolery “Woody” Back’s upbringing in Louisville, KY grounded his culinary style in the foodways and traditions of the South. He pursued a classic culinary arts education at Johnson & Wales, graduating to work as a Sous Chef at restaurants in Virginia Beach. He truly fell in love with Southern cuisine while Chef de Cuisine at Coastal Grill. Following his passion, he moved South to join the kitchens of James Beard Award winning Chefs Tom Colicchio at Craft as Sous Chef and later Linton Hopkins as Executive Sous Chef at Restaurant Eugene. Chef Woody joined Table & Main as Executive Sous Chef in 2015, taking the Executive Chef role in 2015. Woody uses his friendships with farmers and keen interest in responsible sourcing to support our “simple, seasonal, Southern” menu.
