Hello hikers! This event is part of a six-part series in 2026 hosted by Clay and Katherine. This is hike #5. We are also aiming to lead this same hike on December 19. Come join us for some great fitness and fun! The game plan: We will first walk up to the top of the mountain and back down. From there - we will then hike around the base of the mountain on the Cherokee Trail... and then end the event with one more trek up and down the mountain. The hike is approximately 9.3 miles, and we will keep a moderate pace. As we hike, you'll see a diverse landscape featuring lush forests, serene lakes, and impressive geological formations. We will stop for ten minutes for a snack/restroom break near the Grist Mill. You must have previous D3 experience to attend this event. No beginners on this hike -- sorry! We will meet for our hike no later than 7:45 am near the restrooms located near the Historical & Environmental Education Center (also called Confederate Hall). The restrooms are adjoined to the parking lot in a separate building. If this is your first time on this trail, then please give yourself some extra time to arrive and find the meeting spot. There is a $20 parking fee to enter the park. An annual parking pass is $40. However, free public parking is available in Stone Mountain Village. See directions below.
