About
With Linda and Ann's blessing, I am posting a less challenging hike for day two of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park series of hikes this June. The Middle Prong Trail leading to Indian Flats Falls boasts not just one, but three lovely waterfalls along the trail as well as a number of smaller falls and cascades. The hike will also feature a number of artifacts representing the history of the area known as Tremont. The area was a lumber camp that included a post office, hotel, community center, and much more. We'll pass an old rusted Cadillac and a chimney among other artifacts of the camp. This is a moderate 8.3 mile hike with about 1,140 feet elevation gain. Since this is a moderate hike for distance and elevation, our pace will not be rushed. We'll take time to enjoy the creek, falls, and history along the way.
