After you've worked all day at the office it's time for some O/T to get the blood flowing again. This will be a fast paced 6 mile fitness hike at Kennesaw Mountain to help you forget all about your real j-o-b for a while. This is not a beginner's hike. While this is a D3 hike, the pace will be faster than most. If you are concerned that you may not be able to keep up there are other hikes that may be more appropriate for you. We will meet outside the visitor center and head straight up and over Big KM, Little KM, and Pigeon Hill to Burnt Hickory Rd. We will regroup as needed at BHR and then move around the base of the mountain on the Camp Brumby trail returning to the visitor center. Our target pace will be 3mph so bring water that you can drink on the go. My goal is to cover the ~6 miles with 1150 ft of elevation gain and be back to the parking lot by 8:00pm. If the main parking lot is full there is an overflow lot on Old Hwy 41 appx 1/4 mile away. Allow extra time to park in the overflow if needed. There is a $5 parking fee required if you don't have an annual pass. The fee can be paid ahead of time at Recreation.gov or at the visitor center. NOTE: The itenerary for this hike is subject to change up to and including during the hike. This means that we may decide to alter the course slightly, but nothing too drastic.
