SUNRISE: 07:10 AM Calling all Early Birds! This series of hikes around ATL has a three-fold purpose: 1. Beat the summer heat, 2. Catch a spectacular sunrise, and 3. Get your daily workout in before breakfast. So, what's not to like? Pine Mountain We'll start bright and early on the West side of the Mountain, make our happy way up to the summit in time for the sunrise, ooh and aah as the glowing orb appears over the horizon (fingers crossed for only high level clouds), hike down the east side for a short length to gain some elevation, then down to the Cooper's Furnace trailhead parking lot, before returning to the summit via the NE trail, and finally back down to the Western parking lot. Ta daa! DISCLAIMER: This is a moderately strenuous, This is a BRISK HIKE (2.5 to 2.7 miles = 20 to 25 minute/mile) with 1500+ feet of elevation gain. So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!
