DISCLAIMER: This is a brisk, moderately strenuous hike with approx. 1600 foot elevation gain and a substantial amount of rock scrambling. So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out! Question of the day: Why summit the mountain only once, when we can do it twice, and look great doing it? Start your day with this heart-pumping, 7+ mile double summit of the Rock, with a modified Cherokee Trail thrown in for good measure. We'll begin at the walkup trailhead, summit the mountain, enjoy the sunrise, regroup, then descend the rock to the base for a quick restroom break. Then, we summit again, regroup, and on our way down, pick up the Cherokee Trail via the Southwest face, around Venable lake, back to the parking lot.
