Join us for a super-fun hike at the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail and the Benton MacKay Trail. This event features mountain summits, great overlooks, a beautiful waterfall, and secluded scenic creeks. Our journey starts at the Springer Mountain Parking area. We will be hiking on both the AT and the BMT, traveling in a modified figure-eight shape. We'll enjoy all the sites on the Springer Mountain Loop, including Owens Overlook and its long-range vista views; Ball Mountain; and the iconic AT southern terminus plaque atop Springer Mountain. We'll also enjoy a northbound excursion which takes us along Stover Creek and Long Creek, past Three Forks to the beautiful Long Creek Waterfall. Along the way we'll stop for lunch, snacks, and to admire the scenery. The hike is approximately 12.6 miles with 2,500 feet elevation gain, placing it on the lower end of the D5 spectrum. You'll need recent D4 or equivalent hiking experience and be comfortable moving at a moderate pace of 2.6+ mph.
