About

Red Top Mountain is a great place to walk on soft, wide trails that are non-technical and gently rolling. We'll start at the Visitor Center and head up towards the Trading Post on the Sweet Gum Trail and Osprey Loop. Then cross Red Top mountain Road and hike to Iron Hill trail, once there we'll take the 3.8 mile loop which often meanders along the lake. Then we'll head back and take the Homestead Trail without doing the Homestead loop. I plan to only take 2-3 quick stops to delayer/drink/regroup. The pace will be fast-moderate, average 19 minute miles. That combined with the flat terrain and non-technical trails, it should be a very enjoyable morning. A Georgia State Park Pass is required. A day pass can be purchased or you can often borrow one from your library or even better plan to carpool with someone who has one. We'll have lunch at Doug's Place after the hike for those interested. At the end of the hike let me know if you will be joining us.
