Altar is one of four indoor venues at The Masquerade in downtown Atlanta, part of a complex established in 1989. The Masquerade presents over 800 shows annually spanning rock, alternative, indie, electronic, metal, punk, and hip hop, with venues surrounding an open-air brick courtyard.
