VOCES8 is one of the most sensational choirs on the international music scene, having earned its reputation by touring throughout the world, more than a dozen critically acclaimed compact discs, and ravishingly beautiful virtual concerts and YouTube videos. Their eagerly anticipated return to the Cathedral will undoubtedly grace us with one of the most breathtakingly beautiful evenings of music anywhere in Atlanta this season! Presented by Friends of Cathedral Music at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Scintillating, intimate chamber music concert for strings and lute by Antonio Vivaldi and his contemporaries, illuminated by candlelight. The Cathedral Schola sings Friday night only, as the ABO celebrates its tenth year in residence at the Cathedral of St. Philip with a special “shooting star” performance of Vivaldi’s Laetatus sum for chorus and strings. Featuring Brandon Acker inVivaldi’s Lute Concerto in D Major, RV 93and more Presented by the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra with gratitude for the Friends of Cathedral Music and our continued residence at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Visit atlantabaroque.org for tickets and additional information. 4:00 p.m. Meditation on the Passion of Christ, with Carols One of the most moving choral services of the year, this meditation employs lessons & carols, spirituals, anthems, motets, and congregational hymns to illuminate the Passion of Christ, which is retold using biblical narratives from Mark, Matthew, and John, sung to some of the most ancient plainchant known to the Church. All worship services at the Cathedral of St. Philip are admission free, and all are welcome. The Choir of Westminster Abbey is renowned worldwide as one of the finest choirs of its type. Comprising up to thirty boys and twelve professional adult singers, the choir’s wide-ranging performing activities are rooted in centuries-old tradition, and its repertoire ranges from plainsong and Tudor
